Fellow Seadragon alumni, 3/4/21
Happy New Year! Perhaps I’m just glad 2020 is over and 2021 looks more like a
“Healing” year for us all. I’m sure we all missed having the Tucson reunion. It is
fortunate that at our age we should all be getting our covid vaccinations.
However, the status of risks, airline regulations and mask requirements remain
uncertain for this fall. For that reason, we are not having a reunion this year in
Alameda Fla. We will be planning the next one for around Labor Day of 2022 in
Buffalo, New York. The USSVI will be having their annual convention there also at
that time. Also, by that time the epidemic should be history!
Buffalo may not be a spectacular place but it is close to one. That is Niagara Falls, just a short drive north of Buffalo. Being on the shores of Lake Erie, Buffalo does offer boat tours and other lake front attractions. It also has a zoo, science museum, art gallery, brewing co. and wine vineyards. It is certainly enough to fill a few days around the reunion.
We don’t have any specifics yet about the date, hotel or costs etc. for that reunion but will be putting out a letter again in Dec. 2021 with all that and more.
Getting letters distributed, making name tags, webmaster, and auditor are key
functions to conducting a reunion and maintaining our association and reunions.
They are done by alumni members who volunteer to do them. Functions of
ongoing communications, planning and scheduling reunions and interface
with USSVI are done by a president and secretary treasurer.
These are elected volunteer positions of nominees at any reunion. John Schwab and Jerry Gruenhagen hold these positions now but invite interested others to be nominated at the Buffalo reunion. If you have questions about the positions you may contact John at email@example.com or Jerry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you and you’ll here from us again in December.
Jerry Gruenhagen MMCS(SS) Sec/Treas
